Throng

Throng was a collective of creative women (&NB) from the East Midlands, researching improvisation in the context of clubbing, with the vision of creating accessible Alternative Nights Out; for those who feel disinterested or disillusioned by a conventional night on the town. Elements included music sets, uninhibited, durational dance and mark-making as improvisation.
Throng was anti-performance! With research funding from Nottingham Women’s Centre and support from the Good Night Out Campaign and Nottingham Contemporary, the project ran from it’s birth in early 2019 until the pandemic hit in 2021, when artists went their separate ways.
