Open Call

THE OFFER:
I am offering free-to-the-artist Dance Dramaturgy to Scotland-based practitioners in the early stages of devising work, who would otherwise not have access to this support.

DEADLINE:
Apply by Monday 30th June

OVERVIEW:
I am undertaking a period of advanced research on the role of Dance Dramaturgy in contemporary dance & interdisciplinary practice in Scotland, funded by Creative Scotland Open Fund. As part of this project I am offering free-to-the-artist Dance Dramaturgy to six Scotland-based practitioners working in dance or contemporary performance with a choreographic element, to support them in the early stages of devising new work.

WHEN?
Between August and December 2025.

WHAT?
Dance Dramaturgy is a practice of critical external support during devising stages of choreographic work that help an artist understand audience experience whilst advocating for the creative idea - sometimes called an ‘outside eye’.

This offer is for 6 x free-to-the artist blocks of intensive Dance Dramaturgy support for Emergent Practices (up to to four days per artist, with a preparation meeting and an evaluation meeting either side).
Some of these are awarded in partnership with organisations, and others are awarded via Open Calls.
