I had funding from the Womad Foundation to work with NEST (Nottingham Education Sanctuary Team); a group of unaccompanied minors age 16-19. Throughout the academic years 2019-21 the group developed choreographic skills with the vision of creating a new performance work to premier at Nottingham Refugee Week 2021 and WOMAD Festival 2021*. Research included visits to see live performance and dance spaces, professional workshops and bodywork.
I am an Arts Award Adviser and have supported the NEST students to achieve Bronze certification.
*Due to the pandemic, these public sharings were cancelled, but the group continued to stay connected virtually and eventually shared their dance pieces with their peers.
