Care in Action was a project with teenagers in care where we tackled issues that mattered to them by producing protest dances, placards, music and costumes, whilst undertaking Bronze Arts Award. Supported by The Mighty Creatives, Virtual School and Gatehouse Theatre.
This was a highly delicate and personal process that enabled individuals to produce artworks independently whilst we gently encouraged collaboration as the week went on. We had some powerful discussions about change-making, swarming, the visual and personal power of moving in unison, civil dissobedience, personal vs global issues. We refined texts, made music for marching and took turns to facilitate.
Due to their vulnerability, video of the group’s final protest dance can not be shared publically. All participants passed their Bronze Arts Award.
